Service Projects

A Snapshot of Our Key Service Activities

Lions Club Mysore West (LCMW) is a well-respected service organization serving the communityin and around Mysore for the last four decades. It has been doing yeomen service to the socially and economically weaker sections of the society through its various flagship activities such as running the Sevaniketan School (CBSE affiliated), Kidney Endowment Fund to provide subsidized dialysis and girl child education scholarships, amongst various other service activities.

Service projects are heart and soul of Lions Clubs International. The motto of Lions – ‘We Serve’ reflects in all of the service projects of Lions. A Lions project is aimed to reach the underprivileged section of the society deprived of education, health, environment etc…, It is the need of the hour that ‘We Serve’.

Lions Club of Mysore West is one among the pioneer clubs known to pilot excellent service projects and establish them as permanent service projects. One of such pioneer projects of LCMW is Mysore West Lions Sevaniketana, one of the well-known school in Mysuru. We have a couple more permanent projects and we undertake quite a number of short term service projects in line with Lions Clubs International.

Mysore West Lions Sevaniketan School

Mysore West Lions Sevaniketan School was established in the year 1988affiliated to CBSE, with a focus to cater to the middle and lower middle-class family students. It is a private (unaided) co-educational institution that has students from Kindergarten to 10thgrade. It has highly trained faculty with focus on overall development of the child along with academic excellence. Fee structure ensures that families, irrespective of economic background, would be able to afford quality education at a fraction of the cost charged by other private schools.

LCMW created the KEF corpus in the year 2008 to support the renal failure patients with subsidized dialysis.  This has supported more than 2000 dialysis sessions on a yearly basis. The interest from KEF is used to subsidize the dialysis for the socially and economically weaker sections of the society, especially the bread earners of the family.  Lions West Wellness event and other fundraisers are held annually to augment the KEF corpus to support more people.

Presently we have MoU with CSI Holdsworth Mission Hospital, Brindavan Hospital and Gopala Gowda Hospital for servicing patients.

Kidney Endowment Fund (KEF):

Girl Child Scholarships

Lions Club of Mysore West has various social initiatives and one of them is to help the girl child education.  Most of the children going to the government schools in the rural/semi urban area stop their studies after the 10th standard which is especially true for the girl students due to various reasons. LCMW has recognized that problem and is helping girl students to continue the two-year PUC education with a scholarship of Rs.5000/- per year. This initiative was started in 2015.  We currently are running this initiative in partnership with the Hootagalli Government School, Mysuru and plan to expand to other schools. We have recently expanded the scope of this initiative to cover deserving meritorious boys as well.

One of the pillars of the nation is our Armed Forces. It is heartbreaking when soldiers (non-officer category) are disabled or martyred in the line of duty, leaving their families to go through tremendous hardship to even get their children educated. Recognizing this, LCMW has started an initiative to provide scholarships to children of such personnel, to pursue their study right up-to graduation level.

Women Empowerment

As part of empowering women, LCMW has embarked on an ambitious initiative to identify needy women, train them in the art of tailoring and dressmaking, equip them with sewing machines and set them on a path of economic self-sufficiency and increase the family earning potential. We have made a difference to more than 100 women over the past three years through this initiative.
